Olivia: Getting Back To Her Roots

From the stage to your television, is there anywhere you won’t be seeing the multitalented songstress Olivia? I chatted with her about why she’s leaving reality TV behind and trading in her microphone for a script.

From watching you on Love & Hip Hop, it seemed that the one of the biggest critiques from fans was you not opening up about your personal life. As an artist how do you find that balance between being in the public eye but at the same time having your personal time?
Olivia: Well, I absolutely don’t agree with that statement because there are a lot of your favorite artists that don’t open up about their personal life, so I don’t think that one has to do with the other. Just because you don’t know what’s going on in my personal life doesn't mean that you’re going to buy a record. I think that’s absolutely stupid. As long as you put out good music and you can relate to them on those levels, they’re still going to buy your stuff.

Olivia | "Love Like This" (Remix) ft. Tank (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)

We’re loving the new video for “Love like This,” featuring Tank. How did that collaboration come about?
Olivia: Well, Tank and I have been friends for a while and we’ve been talking about doing something so he actually had this record out before and I was like we should remix it and do it over and that’s exactly what we did and it just came out great.

Nassau, Bahamas  – Platinum recording artist, Olivia, has joined forces with the Sandals Foundation to raise awareness for the P.A.C.E. Program, which provides education and support to teenage mothers, while promoting awareness to help reduce teen pregnancy.

The Sandals Foundation aims to make a positive difference in communities existing in Jamaica, Antigua, Saint Lucia, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Grenada and the Bahamas. The Sandals Foundation, which has undertaken over 300 projects since its inception in 2009, has been raising funds for and awareness of the P.A.C.E. The most recent project undertaken by the P.A.C.E. Foundation is to refurbish a building on East Street with the goal of ensuring that young mothers have access to a support centre that will accommodate learning facilities, administrative services and nursery assistance.

“Through our partnerships, we are determined to support educational and community development in the Bahamas,” said Heidi Clarke, director of programs of the Sandals Foundation. “The P.A.C.E. Foundation, through its program for teen mothers, has made a significant contribution to the development of young women, and the overall increase in awareness of the effects of teenage pregnancy. The Sandals Foundation is committed to supporting P.A.C.E. in any way we can and we’re extremely excited to have Olivia on board.
